Who is responsible
The Landscape Gardener is the data controller for this website. We are registered in England, company number 6984983, registered address 9 Vermont Place, Tongwell, Milton Keynes, MK15 8JA. We work from 152 North View Road, London N8 7NB. You can reach us at chubb@thelandscapegardener.com or on 07866 623 929.
Why we are allowed to hold it
The law asks for a lawful basis for each purpose. There are two on this site.
Your enquiry: legitimate interests. If you send us a message about your garden, we keep what you sent so we can reply and carry out any work that follows. Answering an enquiry someone chose to send is what they expect of us, and it does not override anyone's rights.
Analytics: consent. Nothing is measured unless you accept it, and you can change your mind at any time using the button below.
What is collected
When you use the enquiry form. Your name, your email address, your phone number if you give one, the service you picked from the list, and whatever you write in the message box. It is used to reply to you and to quote for the work, which is the only reason it is asked for. The form is handled by Netlify, who host this website.
When you email or call. Whatever you send us, kept for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and any job that comes out of it.
Analytics, and only if you accept. Statistics about page visits, using Google Analytics. It tells us which pages get read and where visitors arrive from, which is how we decide what to write next. It does not collect your name, your email address, or anything else you have not typed into the form, and we cannot use it to work out who you are. It does give your browser a random identifier so that repeat visits are not counted twice, and that is why it needs your permission. Google masks your IP address before storing it.

Nothing loads until you choose. If you decline, or you simply ignore the banner, this website does not contact Google at all and no analytics cookie is set. To change your mind, either way:
What is not collected
No advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no profiling, and nothing is sold or passed on for marketing. The fonts are served from this website rather than from Google, so opening a page does not tell anyone else that you did. Your analytics choice is remembered in your own browser's local storage, which never leaves your device.
Where it goes
Two companies process data for us, and both are in the United States. Netlify hosts this website and handles the enquiry form. Google provides Analytics, if you accept it. Both are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension, which is the arrangement the UK government recognises as giving personal data an adequate level of protection when it travels to the United States.
Nothing is sold, and nothing is passed to anyone else for their own purposes.
How long it is kept
Enquiries are kept while there is an active conversation and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case you come back to us about the same garden. Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted by Google automatically. Ask us and anything about you will be deleted sooner.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to what we are doing with it, or ask for it to be sent somewhere else. Where we rely on your consent, as we do for analytics, you can withdraw it whenever you like, and withdrawing is as easy as giving it: use the button above. Withdrawing does not undo anything that happened before you did it.
Email chubb@thelandscapegardener.com and we will deal with it within one month. If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection authority (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it.
